I have been stuffing myself with cookies and all sorts of junk food this past week. So much that I have failed to keep up with the local news.

Imagine my shock and surprise today, when I decided that it’s time to stuff myself with some real junk food…

And so here it goes again… I quote Malaysiakini;

2 Perak excos ‘missing’, PKR fears defection
Jan 31, 09 6:35pm

Perak PKR has accused Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak of attempting to entice two state executive councillors (exco), who have been missing for four days, to defect.

MCPX

“We believe that there are efforts by Barisan Nasional to persuade the duo to join them in exchange for a desperate reward on offer by Najib, including dropping corruption charges against them,” said Perak PKR chief Osman Abdul Rahman.

Read here for the rest of the report.

Ooohh.. I told myself, the Pakatan Rakyat in Perak is walking on a slippery tight rope, and it’s getting more slippery by the hour! Of course we can expect that when the erm.. the man himself is now Perak Umno head. takes charge. We expect nothing short of SeeFour, but it’s still Chinese New Year. The Chinese don’t like anything that sounds like death (See= die in Hokkien & Four = die in Cantonese). But, money, money, money will be different. So it’s money put to good use here. Drop charges and get paid some more. Who want to bet with me that the ‘missing’ two has turned into frogs?

IF… the ‘missing’ two has learned the art of hopping, PR’s majority will be reduced to 1. Sheesh.. the tight rope is getting slippery…

Watch your next step PR, dont’ panic and tread carefully. With God on your side, you will reach the other end.

Now who needs cookies, when you have real junk like this!

That’s it friends! I am done for the month. Closing shop for a week long holiday next week. As usual, I ‘ponteng’ a few days early.

To those who are celebrating Chinese New Year, may this time be a time of peaceful and joyful reunion with your family and friends.

To those who are not, but will join in the celebration with your Chinese friends, I wish you have a wonderful time makan-makan. Happy holidays!

Dear friends, please remember; ‘Berhati-hati dijalanraya!’

And all the best wishes for a brighter year ahead.

I am not promoting America or her new 44th president. On Obama’s first day at work, he looked into a much debated issue which affects not only the Americans but citizens of other countries; Guantanamo Bay. Obama called for a 120-day suspension of all tribunal hearings, so that he has time to review the tribunal process. Although it is not easy to close Guantanamo Bay, but this is a start to change.

Back to our beloved country Malaysia. Despite the vigils and open condemnation of ISA, the government has been adamant and openly replied, ‘NO! We will not review nor abolish ISA.’ Instead of engaging the rakyat in a discourse about this matter, the government over reacted. The rakyat involved in vigils are harassed as if they are criminals. Hauling them to court, hoping to drive fear and submission into their minds.

Time and again the rakyat has been told that the Act is for the safety and peace of the nation. Is it right to do so at the cost of individual freedom and justice?

Maybe the Home Minister should try convincing the rakyat that there is no abuse of human rights and individual freedom on all the detainees in Kamunting.

Different as day and night? I mean America’s leaders and ours?

Well, at least in America the politicians can forget about paying or buying their way into the cabinet.

The US Senate has already approved six members of Barack Obama’s Cabinet, including Janet Napolitano as homeland security secretary and Steven Chu as energy secretary.

However, Hillary Clinton’s approval as secretary of state was postponed after a Republican senator demanded a debate beforehand about foreign donations to a foundation headed by her husband, former President Bill Clinton.

That debate is due on Wednesday and Mrs Clinton’s nomination is now expected to be confirmed in a vote immediately afterwards.

Timothy Geithner, the nominee to head the treasury department, is due to face the Senate finance committee on Wednesday to explain his initial failure to pay payroll taxes he owed while working for the International Monetary Fund.

It is not easy for them to be appointed into the Cabinet. I am not familiar with the American senate system but I know that the choice is not just in the hands of one person. Unlike in Malaysia, one person has the power to select who he likes. And some thousand or so members in a party select the Prime Minister. How? Money? Money what? Money politics!

I did not watch the live telecast of America’s 44th president inaugural ceremony. This morning I read his speech, a very long one. It is full of bones. Not a bad thing. It won’t choke us, if we take time to chew on these bones.. if we apply it to our local experience.

It is a poke in my face, ‘Hey, it’s time to wake up! Stop dreaming that everything is fine! Start living with a conscience!‘. I would say to our leaders, ‘Start governing with conscience!’

I will only pick out some of the bones to highlight, please read the full speech here

‘Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age.’

‘Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet.

‘Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time.

‘On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics’

‘We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things.’

‘In reaffirming the greatness of our nation, we understand that greatness is never a given. It must be earned. Our journey has never been one of short-cuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted – for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame.’

‘Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things – some celebrated but more often men and women obscure in their labour, who have carried us up the long, rugged path towards prosperity and freedom.’

‘What the cynics fail to understand is that the ground has shifted beneath them – that the stale political arguments that have consumed us for so long no longer apply.

‘They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.’

‘To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect. To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society’s ills on the West – know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy.’

And the one bone that pokes in the faces of our leaders will be this…

To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist.’

Now can our leaders see the bones? Will they chew on it? And digest it?

Who is Obama in this picture? Scroll down for the answer..

Here is the story..

JAKARTA: Indonesian photographer Ilham Anas won’t be at US President Barack Obama’s inauguration tomorrow. Instead he’ll be starring as an Obama lookalike on Indonesian TV.
Anas, 34, who from some angles bears a resemblance to the new US president, shot to fame in Jakarta after Obama, 47, won the election in November, and is now earning income as an Obama double.
Many Indonesians have a keen interest in Obama, who lived in Jakarta for four years after his American mother, Ann Dunham, married Muslim Indonesian Lolo Soetoro following the end of her marriage to Obama’s Kenyan father.
“When Obama won, my colleagues played a practical joke on me – they made me wear a suit, a tie, and took pictures of me posing as Obama,” Anas said on Saturday.
“The pictures spread very quickly on the Internet. It was phenomenal. Then TV stations and an advertising agency got in touch with me.”
That led to an appearance in a pharmaceuticals advertisement in the Philippines where he played Obama, who is due to be sworn in as the 44th US president tomorrow. Anas, who was born and raised in Bandung, West Java, said he feels lucky to resemble Obama.
“I never thought I would be a star in a commercial, then this happened. It’s very fortunate,” Anas said.
“I was in the airport in Malaysia in transit and a man approached me and asked: ‘Are you Obama?’. I was very surprised when he asked to take a picture together and bought me a meal,” said Anas, flashing a broad smile.
If he ever gets the chance to meet Obama, Anas said he would ask the US president to take a firm stance in dealing with the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

To the big, Big, BIG, BIGGER, BiGGEST boss of the mata-mata:

man-close-mouth-copy

Candles and food have since became WMD = weapons of mass destruction.

You can read more of it at these blogs;

SHANGHAI FISH
MERAH HITAM

Malaysia, truly a land of diversity and darn stupidity!

We have a MIM (made in Malaysia) santa and now a clown!

Making people laugh at their dumbness.

What’s the problem actually?

If you cannot convince the people not to light candles, join them. Go buy some candles and light them.

If you cannot convince the people not to picnic ‘pot-luck’ style, join them. Go buy some KFC or McD’s (oops sorry they ‘boikot’ MIA=made in Amrica products) or roti canai and eat with them.

How to be a leader when you don’t even know how to win people’s heart?

I just have one parting word; SORE LOSERS!

But Santa is a saint. Saint Nicholas. Santa will never induce us with bribes to keep us good or to do his will. Absolutely not! Santa will not cheat!

Saint Nicholas Santa and Malaysia’s Santa is as different as day and night. Here’s why..

votes-bribe

(read full report in Malaysiakini)

What? Despite so much inducement, cannot win?

Malaysia’s Santa should learn a lesson; money won’t buy you love!
You got to earn it, the humble and hard way. Start from the kindergarten level and you should be all right.

Psst.. how much money do you think Malaysia’s Santa dumped into KT? And still lose?

(Note: peng does not believe in Santa Claus, Saint Nicholas or the Malaysia’s own!!!)

Some are motivated by this..

man-push-dollar

(Maybe it should be the other way round, the $ pushes the man..! That’s how it works in some parties??)

And some are motivated by this…

hands1

(Motivated by love .. for the nation. And you see the difference? Because with love, there is hope. There is victory!)

Congratulations to the Barisan Rakyat team!
Who left their wives, children, loved ones, family members, jobs at home, while they traveled to Kuala Terengganu, hit the streets to spread the truth.
And also kept us rakyat updated on the latest.
Yes, you did not do this for the money. No, not for the money but for the love of the nation! You want to be the law-makers, to see change in our nation, change for the better.

In appreciation to all the Barisan Rakyat team (you know who you are).. this post is dedicated to you all.

A BIG BIG THANK YOU! THIS POST IS A TRIBUTE TO YOU ALL!

Ezam shows letter, Anwar says ‘So what?’

Andrew Ong | Jan 15, 09 2:39pm
PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim is unperturbed by former confidante Ezam Mohd Noor releasing a letter he allegedly penned to Dr Mahathir Mohamad in 1998….

Speaking to reporters later, Ezam said both prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and deputy prime minister Najib Abdul Razak were given copies of the letter.“As far as I’m concerned, I’ve gotten the green light (from them) and they feel that it is a responsibility for me to explain, not just to the voters in Kuala Terengganu, but to the whole nation about the hypocritical nature of Anwar,” he said.

Child’s play : You know when children play a friendly ‘masak-masak’ can sometimes turn into a quarrel. Next, one will tell the other, ‘I don’t friend you. You so bad. The sweet you gave me last year was bitter!’ And so the exchange will go on and on, usually one-sided ..

Imminent loser: That’s what I see in this. Someone comes out to make public a letter by a former boss. This boss was undergoing very severe trials at that point of his life. The boss had written a letter asking his ex-boss to give him ‘space’ to fight against a ‘conspiracy’ against him and also sought his ex-boss protection for his family. And I ask what’s the big deal about writing that letter? No big deal actually.

Well the ‘bigger deal’ is this. There is an imminent loser in KT. Some said it’s in the weather, some in the gut feeling, some in the numbers. Knowing that, ‘they’ asked a traitor to dig gold and wash it as dirt. Hoping to gain some brownie points.

No one is moved to form a negative opinion on the writer. After all the ‘letter’ goes to show that the writer is only human!

So, ‘they’ lose again.. even before ‘they’ actually lost in the game! A word of advice to ‘them’, stop recruiting ‘losers’. These ‘losers’ will speed up the sinking of your ship.

I OPPOSE DETENTION WITHOUT TRIAL
